Dubrovnik and the island of Lokrum have a moderate warm humid climate (the olive climate) with the domination of three winds: the southern wind (scirocco), the north-eastern wind (bora) and the landward breeze.
The most rainy and cloudy month is November, and the driest and clearest is July.
The average annual precipitation on Lokrum is 1360 mm, which is by approx. 4 % more than in Dubrovnik.
The average annual relative air humidity amounts to approx. 64%, which has a very favourable effect on the human organism. The daily motion of humidity is unique: in the morning hours it increases rapidly (instead of diminishing), so noon is more humid than morning, which is due to the daily exchange of the wind from the sea and from the land.
The average annual air temperature of the Dubrovnik area is 16°C. The average temperature of the warmest months (July and August) is about 26°C, and of the coldest (January and February) about 9°C.
Lokrum is a Nature Reserve and a Special Forest Vegetation Reserve
Therefore it is not allowed to endanger in any way the natural and cultural goods on the island, to throw the waste, bring dogs or light the fire. Smoking is prohibited. It is not allowed to stay on the island overnight.
The arrival and the departure to and from the island are organized from the Dubrovnik ancient Town port, where you can find the sailing timetable.
