
Tourism+ is the name of the project implemented by the Center UP2DATE in partnership with the association Special friend from Dubrovnik and the public institution Reservat Lokrum with the financial support of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports.
Goals implementation of the Turizam+ project are the training of tourism workers for better provision of tourist services to persons with disabilities and expanding the offer, developing new services and jobs for PWDs.
Through the Turizam+ project, a conference on accessible tourism was held on the 6th. May in the Congress Hall in Lokrum which was attended by more than 70 people, representatives of the Ministry of Labour, the pension system, and families and social policy, representatives of the Dubrovačko-neretvanska County, representatives of the City of Dubrovnik, representatives of various localities institution, institution, organization, association, media and the persons with disabilities.
The conclusions of the conference are unanimous:
- include in the creation of tourist areas, contents and services universal design so that people with disabilities can equally consume the tourist offer and
- include people with disabilities in the planning process tourist offers in order to design the best possible solutions useful to as many people as possible.
As a result of the implementation of the Tourism+ project, a brochure was printed remains a permanent value with short guidelines to all employees in the tourism branch, how to communicate with people with disabilities and on what attention should be paid when the guest is a person with some kind of disability.
When you add everything up, TOURISM + UNIVERSAL DESIGN, you get a formula of equality whose end results are quality tourist offer and satisfied guests from all over the world who will pass on their positive comments experiences to others, pay for top service and gladly return to places where tourism has a positive sign.
